Arrive at Entebbe International Airport where our representative greets you. You'll be transferred to your hotel for check-in and a trip briefing. Use the day to relax, enjoy Uganda’s hospitality, and prepare for the journey ahead. Depending on arrival time, optional activities in Entebbe may be arranged for those interested.
Depart Entebbe after breakfast and drive through lush countryside toward Fort Portal. Enjoy scenic views of tea plantations, rolling hills, and rural life. Arrive near Kibale National Park, check in to your lodge, and spend the evening soaking in the cool breeze and misty views of the nearby Rwenzori Mountains.
Head into Kibale Forest with experienced trackers to find wild chimpanzees. Enjoy observing their social interactions up-close. The forest is also home to many other primates and bird species. After tracking, relax at the lodge or enjoy an optional community or nature walk in the surrounding area.
Embark on a scenic hike around the Fort Portal crater lakes, offering beautiful views and birdwatching opportunities. Later, drive to Nyakalengijo at the base of the Rwenzoris, where you’ll settle in and prepare for your multi-day mountain trek. Gear check and briefing are done in preparation for the hike.
Begin your trek by ascending through montane forest zones with moss-covered trees and monkeys swinging above. Cross the Mubuku River via a wooden bridge before a steady climb to Nyabitaba Hut. Settle into your hut for dinner and enjoy views of the Portal Peaks and the forest canopy below.
Hike through bamboo and heather vegetation, with steep sections and the scenic Kurt Shafer Bridge crossing. The path can be muddy but rewarding, leading to views of waterfalls and alpine meadows. Arrive at John Matte Hut near the Bujuku River, where you’ll enjoy the dramatic mountain scenery and rest.
Today you cross the notorious Bigo Bog on boardwalks as you gain altitude. The landscape changes to alpine vegetation with giant lobelias and groundsels. Reach Bujuku Hut located in a glacial valley beneath Mount Speke and Mount Stanley. This hut is ideal for acclimatization and summit preparations.
Climb to the alpine Scott-Elliot Pass, enjoying sweeping views of glaciers and valleys. Descend past Lake Kitandara to the hut nestled beside the water. This area is remote and scenic, perfect for relaxation after a demanding day’s climb. Prepare for the peak ascent or optional hikes in the surroundings.
Spend the day at Kitandara acclimatizing to the high altitude. Gentle hikes around the lakes and nearby ridges help prepare for the next ascent. The peaceful setting, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and snowcapped peaks, offers a chance to rest and absorb the beauty of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Summit Weismann Peak (4,620m), with panoramic views of the Rwenzori range. After celebrating at the top, descend carefully through alpine terrain and forests to Guy Yeoman Hut. This stretch is challenging but rewarding, combining technical trekking with some of the most dramatic scenery in the region.
Complete the final leg of your trek back to Nyakalengijo, passing through bamboo forests and muddy trails. Once back at the base, you'll be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy the changing landscape as you leave the mountains for Uganda’s famous savannah wilderness.
Begin with a sunrise game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, home to lions, elephants, antelopes, and buffaloes. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, famous for its hippo pods, crocodiles, and numerous birds. This is one of the park’s most immersive wildlife experiences.
Travel to the southwest, passing through stunning landscapes, rural homesteads, and rolling hills. Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its mountain gorillas. Check in to your lodge nestled in the forest, and relax ahead of tomorrow’s once-in-a-lifetime gorilla tracking adventure.
Head into the dense forest with experienced guides to track a family of endangered mountain gorillas. Observe them in their natural habitat—a truly humbling wildlife encounter. Afterward, drive to the tranquil Lake Bunyonyi, where you'll enjoy a peaceful evening at Uganda’s most scenic highland lake.
Enjoy breakfast by the lake before starting your journey back to Entebbe. The drive winds through beautiful landscapes, giving you time to reflect on the incredible adventure. Stop en route for lunch or shopping, and check in to your hotel in Entebbe for your final night in Uganda.
Take an early morning trip to Mabamba Swamp, a Ramsar site known for the rare and prehistoric-looking shoebill stork. Enjoy a quiet canoe ride through papyrus channels teeming with birdlife. After the excursion, return to Entebbe and transfer to the airport for your outbound flight.
