  • Early Morning Departure: Set off at dawn from your accommodation to Semuliki National Park, a birding paradise located in the western region of Uganda. The park is home to over 400 bird species, including 35 endemics that are found only in the Albertine Rift.

  • Birding Adventure: Upon arrival, start your full-day birding expedition along the park’s trails. You'll explore the Sempaya Nature Trail, where you have a good chance of spotting rare and unique species such as:

    • Black-casqued wattled hornbill
    • White-throated blue swallow
    • African piculet
    • Nkulengu rail
    • Long-tailed hawk
    • Lyre-tailed honeyguide
  • Visit the Hot Springs: Take a break to visit the famous Sempaya Hot Springs, which are not only a geothermal wonder but also a great birding spot. You might see water birds and forest species around the springs.

  • Lunch: Enjoy a packed lunch in the park or at a nearby picnic site.

  • Afternoon Birding: Continue birding along the Kirumia Trail, where the dense forest harbors species such as the Yellow-throated Nicator, Dwarf Honeyguide, and Ituri Batis.

  • Wildlife Encounters: While driving through the savanna areas in the park, you may encounter some wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, and primates like chimpanzees and monkeys.
